How it all started
SmartStay Hospitality was founded by operators who understand property ownership from every angle.
Long before SmartStay existed, our founders were short-term rental owners, real estate professionals, and technology-driven operators who grew up around real estate and hospitality. One founder has built and scaled a company exceeding $100 million in enterprise value, while the others have led technology teams within Fortune 500 organizations, managing complex systems and large, cross-functional teams supporting mission-critical operations.
As active travelers and STR owners themselves, the founders experienced the same frustrations many owners face today—remote managers with limited accountability, inconsistent property standards, and little real visibility into what was happening between guest stays.
